A southern Swedish mountain landscape
Fulufjället National Park lies in Dalarna and protects a large southern mountain area. The main Njupeskär entrance has a visitor centre, parking, a service building and trailheads for several summer routes.
When to hike
Official park information says hiking normally becomes more practical from mid-June, once most snow has melted, although snow may remain on higher ground. Hiking is generally best through September. Frost can occur in summer and new snow can arrive as early as October.
Getting to the park
Njupeskär is about 25 kilometres west of Särna. Most entrances are easiest to reach by car, while pre-booked flexible public transport can serve Njupeskär and Gördalen. Check current transport arrangements before travelling.
Mountain safety still matters
The park warns that weather can change quickly and mobile coverage can be weak. Longer hikes therefore require planning that does not depend solely on a phone connection.
Check current rules and conditions
Park regulations restrict some activities, and temporary conditions can affect routes or facilities. Check the official current-information page and regulations before visiting.
